CCR Question-Answer draft
How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
Conventions are things that are typically seen in media. Before I started my film, I really took time to research stereotypes of different types of high schoolers and plan a way to break out from this conventional idea. My film represents the lower social class of students in high school. The ones who are seen as a "Nerd" or a "Geek" simply because they do good in academics. Nobody really knows who someone is and what talents they have so no one should judge. We implement this by showing how a group of really smart kids are secret pop stars that their classmates wish they could be.
How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
Our target audience was around 15-20-year-olds. We engaged with the audience by using an environment that they would directly relate to, and using songs that they could sing along with. We wanted them to be able to somewhat relate or at least understand what is happening.
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
My production skills slowly developed throughout this project because of all the different angle uses and editing techniques. In order to capture what we are trying to do, we had to mess around and manipulate different environmental factors which not only taught me how to use them in real life, but what certain angles and lighting works with what scenes. Furthermore, each of my teammates had to learn how to combine shots, and edit things to make each shot smoother.
How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
We used a variety of technology medias to create our film. Firstly, we used our phones of course in order to capture each shots, but we also used the music software built in. To go along with this, we used hard drives to save everything on, and our computers where we edited most of our shots on. I didnt know how to use my canon rebel T7 camera so we did have to improvise on using our phones just so we didnt mess anything up and have to refilm. I'm going to try to get some kind of professional editing technique like premier pro to make our film look better, but it is not guaranteed.
